A Couple More Exotic Leather Arm Guards

Recommended Posts

I made these for a couple of guys I met on the traditional archery forum, TradGang. Both are made from ostrich leg skin and backed with vegetable-tanned cowhide. The trim is deer hide and I carved the lace hooks from deer antler and then stained them with aniline dye. Everything was sewn by hand using artificial sinew.

Thanks! Here's another one I just finished for a friend of mine. This one is elephant hide backed with vegetable-tanned cowhide and trimmed in deer.

Wow....I wanna be one of your friends LOL :P Seriously though, I love it. Your stitching is sweet and I love the way you use the antler for clasps. I use a lot of antler too but have never thought to use it in that way. Bravo!

Those are awesome. I can't even say which one is the coolest.

Really nice work! And certainly nicer than the piece of cardboard that I taped to my arm when Mom wouldn't pay $10.00 for a proper arm-guard when I was a kid! :o

Green being my favorite color, I really liked the first two, but that elephant one is also really nice looking. I don't even own a bow, but now I want to go shoot my dad's compound bow.
