ranchmom77 Report post Posted October 23, 2014 Hey everyone.. quick question for you. Does anyone know how the quality of Springfield's Sheridan stamping tools compare to say, Barry King's? I love Barry's stamps but my budget doesn't allow me to collect them as fast as I want to! Lol What do you think?
King's X Report post Posted October 23, 2014 If you have BK's, I would just stay the course. I do not know about SL tools, but Barry King tools are unbeatable.
WyomingSlick Report post Posted October 23, 2014 I would say that if you are doing actual "Sheridan" style carving, then grit your teeth and pay the premium price. It should help to keep in mind that because BKs are regarded as the best when it comes to Sheridan style stamping tools that are readily available, they will increase in value over the years. I am reminded of the fact that more than a few old timers I know, regret that they didn't pay the extra money for Ray Hackbarth's stainless steel stamps back when he made tools in the 1950's.
