Bowl Effect

Recommended Posts

When carving and tooling a plate sized piece of leather how do you stop it turning into a shallow bowl shape? I'm sure someone on here must know a neat method of keeping it flat. Looking forward to your input ladies and gentlemen.

Some use two sided tape to adhere to their work station.

don't adhere it to your work station, you'll be needing to turn the piece often. rubber glue it to some cardboard or some kind of backing, or use one sided tape on the back. when your finished just pull the backing off. don't pull the leather pull the backing.

Rubber cement from your local stationery store. Needs to be something you can easily peel off after.

Some cement it to a sheet of Mylar, others to card stock, shelf paper, etc.

There are numerous threads here if you do a search, should be able to find other suggestions too.
