natalie23 Report post Posted July 12, 2015 Hi all, I'm trying to replicate the 'braid' in this collar - from what I can tell, its basically two layers of leather that are twisted together. However, when I do it, it gaps really bad between the two twists. Or is this a twisted type of bleed knot (slit braid)? Are there any tutorials for this type of twist/braid? Which means its actually one piece of leather ( would guess a 3 to maybe 4 braid) once its been "braided" it was dyed different colors. You can see where they have riveted on the black piece of leather to the brown so I do believe it's two separate pieces of leather. I was able to duplicate this look by cutting a long center slit down two pieces of leather. Rivet then together and then, keeping the grain sides together, loop them over and over to create the twist. Problem was, because the two sides never intersect, I'm left with a gap between the twists. It doesn't lay nicely together like in their image... I guess this could be done by doing two slits instead of one continuous one but I don't see a break in the image so was curious how they did it.. billybopp Report post Posted July 12, 2015 I could be mistaken, but what I think I'm seeing is the blue leather slit down its length, with the brown leather slit at intervals like a blood/bleed knot. Look closely at the bottom picture to see what I'm talking about. It's quite possible that the blue leather is also only split at intervals, but can't tell for sure. Maybe get some cheap or scrap leather and experiment with a few knots a few different ways to see what you come up with! Bill Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
