My father was a close friend of Audie Murphy. Audie kept his horse at my father's ranch along with his saddle. The saddle is engraved with Audie's name. Audie gave the saddle to my father in the 1960's. When my father passed away 5 years ago, I inherited the saddle. It has been sitting in my house ever since. I want to find out more about the saddle maker. I believe it was San Fernando Saddlery that made it, but I am not sure. There are no identifying marks on the saddle other than a large serial number under the front.

Can anyone help me identify the maker of this saddle.

Thanks,

Jeff

I moved your topic to the saddle ID, restoration and repair forum. More likely to get answers here.

It appears to be a Simco. I have a rope of this era and they style is identical, just the finish differs. These are tough saddles, made with all the best materials at that time. Even the hides were thicker.

Thank you Saddlebag. What do you mean by rope? Do you mean a roping saddle?

Can you send me a picture. Thank you very much.
