Members kjohnsonark Posted March 2, 2016 Members Report Posted March 2, 2016 Short story - I'm looking for a shuttle and bobbin for a Bradbury A1 Stitcher. The long back story is that my great, great Uncle Joe was a cobbler in New England in the late 1800s, maybe into the 1900s [still researching that]. He had his shop on the side of the road near the house that our family build in the early 1860s. That's the house I grew up in. When the property had to be sold, I couldn't let that old stitching machine go too and scooped it up. Well, scooped up with a lot of help. It's heavy old thing! It's moved with me twice since. I got it cleaned and running back in the 90s. Recently I've gotten the treadle base almost ready to go too. I'd like to put it back to work but it's missing its shuttle and bobbin. I'm finding out that they are scarce as hens teeth both here in the States and in Britain. Is there any chance anyone on this forum has a shuttle and bobbin available or knows where I should search next for them? I do have a picture of old Joe and his helpers standing in front of his shop. I'll see if I can upload it to the history section. He's the little guy in the center with the white beard who looks a bit like Santa in a cobbler's apron. Thanks for any help you can give me! Quote
