that's actually a really good idea. however i was thinking of something out of leather. Not so much for myself, but for gifts for other people.

I don't have any design drawings. The bottom is one piece flesh side up. The top center is one piece with gouges on both ends on the flesh side and folded up in a J shape. The top front is gouged on the flesh side and folded up into a V shape. The top back is gouged on the flesh side and folded up into an L sharp. It measures 4-1/2" wide X 4" deep. The back is 3" tall, and the front flap is 1" tall. There is 1-3/4" between the flaps. All pieces are glued flesh side to flesh side and stitched all around.  Hope that makes sense

I liked the look of this, so made a pattern based on the above (if you don't mind ofc).  What i forgot (initially) was to add the thickness of the leather to the base - part of the learning curve i guess.

everything is cut and stamped and lines up - so that's peachy :) - just got to sew it up now

I don't have a picture of mine but I took some scrap 8 oz leather, put my logo on it and soaked it (I used a baking soda/water mix for effect) and formed in into a J shape....once it dried I attached a flat piece to the bottom with rivets.
