Dye got where you didn't want it. What sort of applicator did you use and what material did you use to black the edge? Quote

I used a strip of bridle (English Tan color) from Springfield leather. I originally started with the strap keep and yeah, I messed up a bit there. After that I picked up one of those refillable dye pens from Tandy and used that for the rest of the belt edges. The refillable dye pen seemed to give me much better control, so I'm probably going to give that a shot again for the next belt. Quote
Members impulse Posted July 31, 2016 Members Report Posted July 31, 2016 Good effort! My critique is that the holes for the buckle tongue are too big and there are too many of them. The spacing and centering are spot on and obviously done with care. For a made to measure belt it is best to use only 5 holes with your current measurement using the middle hole. When selecting the hole size, find the punch that will match the buckle tongue, then use one size smaller. This is because the punches taper a little and you end up with a hole bigger than expected. The thickness of leather that you chose is definitely the best especially that you have used a sturdy harness buckle. Cheers Lois Quote
