I just finished this wallet and had a big problem, I got dye on my fingers while dying edges and got purple finger print on the interior. She wants interior natural color so dying is out. I tried some deglazer with poor results, I hate to scrap the project and start over not sure if I can get the coloring on dragonfly that good again. Any suggestions.

Hate to say it, but I believe you're doomed.

You could try de-stitching it and only replacing the interior.

Michael Sheldon has that one covered in my book.

Been there and done that...never could figure out how to fix it...sorry to say, but I think you will have to start over.

Leave it as it is and either

A)  Grovel

B) Tell her - Hey! it's hand made. What the hell did you expect?!

Well, as Michel Sheldon said, you could salvage it and only redo the interior pockets. When you take off the stitches, remember to do that from the inside - so you don't damage the exterior and I guess, that the cover is what you're happiest with anyway. Another tip is to use disposable latex gloves. I always do. That way you minimize the risk of dirty down the natural leather. Even 'clean' fingers can start to discolor natural leather if you work with it for a longer period (as when stitching for example).

Good Luck (I'm tempted to add that may the Devil curse your enemies, but I'm not sure the pun will be appreciated :))

Instead of trying to remove the marks, how about a couple of little dragonflies over the marks.   It's a lot easier to make something look as if it's meant to be there, than make it disappear.

When this sort of thing happens, I figure the gods are having a larf at our expense (the little devils).

If you also have a stipple stamp,  it can be used to hide some of the smudges.  Make it like I meant to do that :-)
