Swivel Holster

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

A friend of mine wants me to make him a holster for his metal detecting digging tool and his pin pointer. I inserted a picture of a  pin point holster. The problem that I have is, He wants me to mount the pinpoint holster on top of the digging tool holster. If I do that, he wouldn't be able to remove the pinpointer without hitting the crossbar of the digging tool. I figured the best way to do it is with some hardware that would allow the pinpoint holster to swivel so he can pull it out with out hitting the digging tool. The only hardware I saw that swivels has a belt clip on it. Can someone give me some feedback on how I might go about doing this?

Thank you all.

Maybe put the pin pointer holster on a lanyard?

Hi Bikermutt07,

That is what the D-ring on front of the pinpointer is for, you hook the lanyard to the D-Ring then to your belt, so you don't lose it. He wants the pinpointer holster mounted to the digging tool holster. He told me to put it on an angle, so you can draw it out without hitting the digging tool. I can do that, but it looks bad. I figured if I had a fastener that could swivel it would look better and could clear the digging tool. I for one don't feel it necessary to do that because most of the time, you use the digger before you use the pinpointer. That is what he wants.

Thank you for the feedback.

Jimmy

There used to be a swivel case for the big Nextel phones. You had to invert the phone to take it off of your belt. Surely there is still something out there like that.

What about a rivet up top and a snap fastener below. Pop the snap fastener and swivel on the rivet to remove.

You could put a couple of washers under the rivet so it could swivel easier.

I put it together yesterday. I used the same clip you have above. Thank you for your help. I purchased the clip for $ 6 it works great. I put a strap on the front of the holster, I am not sure if you can see it. You can clip the pinpointer holster to the digger holster or if you like,Pinpointed and knife case 4.jpg put it on your belt separately.  Please forgive my stiching , got sloppy. Thank you all.

Cool. Where did you find it?

I just grabbed that pic from a search.

My buddy used to have to carry the Nextel phone for work and was always breaking holsters for it. Then he found one with that clip.

I got it from Ohio Travel Bag Co. It was $ 6.95 called a swivel clip #L-3401-NP I believe Springfield Leather also has them. They are about the same price.

I am back to the beginning again. The holster I posted above is not working like I would like it to. The swivel clip is to lose, it swivels completely around. I need something that will only move when you want it to. Anybody with a suggestion?

Jim
