First holster

Recommended Posts

Hi all!  I'm new to the forum and have finally finished my first major project - a holster for my Sig Sauer P320.  If your familiar with the P320, you might find, like I do, that the grip texture is very aggressive.  So, instead of a "combat cut" I went with a backing that protects the body from the grip texture.  I also added a suede backing to the holster as well.

That's kinda nice, not overly pretty or fancy, straight up simple and utilitarian. Very clean looking stitches. Keep it up!

Looks awesome.

You might want to try some hard rolled horsehide for your next holster project. It's way too stiff for me to use on Mexican loop holsters, but for concealed carry, the stiffness to weight ratio is great for minimalist form factors, and handles sweat like a champ.

Definitely nice work on your first holster!

What kind of finish did you use?  Looks like maybe you did all but the suede in hot wax?

My very first holster was similar only made out of old blue jeans and model glue because I was broke and going to college.  I re-used the metal clip that came with a crummy nylon holster and it turned out great, although it wasn't leather.

thanks,

Bob

Good thoughtful design.  I like the leather you used, is it oily leather?
