So i started in 2015 I learned under Pete Harry  in Pembroke Kentucky. I built this saddle for myself. Used a Toots Mansfield Tree . Modified the undercut in the swells because i didn't like it filled it in and rounded it out. It's on a full quarter horse bar tree.

I didn't pad the seat as I do not like padding in the seat. I have put 350 miles in this saddle since i built it . I wanted a saddle I could use  for anything from trail riding to working cows.

Tell me what your thoughts are. My feelings don't get hurt easily if I didn't want to know i wouldn't ask

Just a personal thing, . . . I like squared skirts better, . . . but I do really like the seat, . . . especially the straight up back.

I would hope if I ever decided to build a saddle, . . . that mine would come out as good as yours.

Good job.

May God bless,

Dwight

A lot of people do like the square skirts dwight and i can do them.I just don't prefer them because i find the rounded skirts help fit more horses I built this one for me and that's why I went with it. I build a saddle based on what a person wants so where this a saddle for you it would be square skirts brother :). I thank you for taking the time to look it over. The tree for this saddle came from baitey Saddle trees in Arndt Tennessee. I have been very happy with this tree. The seat back is 4 1/2 and I like a straighter back seat too because i have back issues so the straighter  back seat helps support my lower lumbar.

I thank you for the compliment and your willingness to tell me what you would change if it was you. That I think is more helpful than anything else when you plan to sell to the public.

Safe travels my friend and best wishes to you and yours,

S.J. Phelps

I have never built a saddle but if I do I hope it turns out as nice as yours. I like that real clean look, awesome job!
