Holsters Finished

Ok, I count 8 holsters you finished last week... but when did you start them? Let us know, so that the slackers know how much they need to pick it up

I know everyone wants to know how long it takes me to make a holster, but I don't keep track of time since I do it by stages. These were all cut out a week or so before I started tooling them. I think I tooled them all in one day. 

Yesterday I cut out 2 holsters, and tooled one of them. The other one was ordered with no tooling. I also tooled 4 more holsters yesterday, that I had previously cut out. These holsters will hopefully be finished this week.

After I cut them out, I wet the leather, and let it sit for a while, then I tool them, punch the lacing holes, and while they are still damp I whip stitch them (with cheap plastic lace) and fit the gun into the holster, pull the gun out and let them dry. the cheap lace is then cut and removed. once they are dry, usually next day I dye them. The day after that I smooth the insides and put on the finishes except the final one and lace them, then the straps are made and a final coat of finish is put on. Once that is dry the straps and snaps are attached and I am finished.

This should give you an idea of how much work goes into holster making.
