Mattsbagger Report post Posted March 31, 2017 Bridle leather is generally full of oils and waxes to make it water resistant. That is why it can't really be stamped or carved. That is my understanding anyways. So it makes it very durable for outside usage. I think you can put whatever top coat you want on it. As to the scratches I got nowt for ya. JLD Report post Posted April 11, 2017 Hi I saw something on youtube on removing scratches where he steamed them out by putting a hot cloth on top of the scratch to plump up the leather. I haven't tried it but the demo looks quite effective. He also used the steam on an iron with a cloth pad between to help lift them. Maybe worth a try on some scrap ?
