Stunning work. How big of a piece of hide did you end up using?

Thanks! I believe the side was 19 sqft. I had to cut around some imperfections and still had lots of left over (4 sqft easily).

that is a beautiful piece of luggage.  Your customer should be enormously proud to carry that.

That is gorgeous! I'd like to eventually make a laptop bag for myself that looks as nice as this.

Beautiful bag!  Really well done.

Is that a cotton canvas lining?  It looks like you pre-sewed it? Can I ask how you attached it?

Thanks!

Yes its cotton canvas. its essentially a big inside the bag. to attach it i simply turn the edge all the way around to hide the "rough edge" and stitch it to the bag all the way around the opening. That method does't always work for every bag but it suits this "bucket" style bag

Any pics of the interior without the liner installed?

I actually don't. I get carried away and forget to snap pics during the process.

Forgot to ask did you use a frame to get the top to look like that? I am sitting on the fence about making a doctor style bag and I haven't used a frame before so was wondering how hard it would be.

No this bag does not have a frame. I'm relying on certain parts of the bag being double thick to maintain the structure. The 'panels' at the zipper, in this case, are double thick. I've found that if you design the bag correctly, with careful consideration, you'll never need a 'frame'. Unless you're working with dense veg tan/bridle,

Cool thanks for that, I am just now getting into designing my own things so wasn't sure if that was a frame or not.
