Hello, all!

I am trying to draw my own patterns so my carving will custom fit on any project. Also, I want to learn how to draw my own patterns in order to be completely original.

Here is my first attempt at drawing Sheridan free hand. I made the pattern up off the top of my head.

Please feel free to critique.

Thank you! This was just for practice but now I'm considering carving it out on leather just for fun and to see if it exposes any major mistakes. :)

I don't know anything about carving... but i think that looks really good.

I can see everything is a mirror image so before you start carving in to leather, you might make the bottom center leaf a little bigger.

keep up the great work!

This looks nice. I suggest carving the practice piece as I think that improves my drawing. I feel that some items are easier to draw than to carve. But then, maybe I need practice on both ends. I hope to see the carved product.

Nice design! There is an instructional DVD: "Drawing Sheridan Style Patterns" by Chan J Geer that I've found very helpful.
