What type of hook is this?

Recommended Posts

Abbey refers to these as Billet hook studs. They have them listed with a good description of size dimensions here: http://abbeyengland.com/Store/ProductID/68473

These are also called Bridle hook studs.

In Canada harness makers call them English bridle stud hooks. I have seen  them mostly on English  style reins where they attached to the bit.

Hook studs, Weaver has had them in the past, but I just looked through their catalog and I don't see them now.  May have discontinued due to lack of demand?

Edit: I just did a google search and Zack White has them.

if you want to try to order from a Canadian (Ontario) source and perhaps benefit from the exchange rate check out Harness Hardware Inc. Nice Mennonite run outfit. Good service and good products.

I am going to use it for a handbags.  I was very much inspired by Peter Nitz’s bag and thought that I can think about something like this for myself.
