It's cool seeing what people classify as wallets. All the different designs n such.

Hey Yin, can we see the inside? Do you put heavier leather under the 3 oz when stamping?

I put a layer of 1 oz on the back of the tooled section after I was done dyeing, antiquing, etc.   It still has come out a lot thicker than I wanted, so a bit much to carry around in the front pocket for my tastes.  "T" pocket design might help here for the future, but wanted to try one with a full pocket design. Here is the inside:

That blue looks suspiciously familiar.

It's W/C 3oz airbrushed with Fiebings Blue Pro Dye.

Oh, it looks just like the ocean blue I got from NStarleather. My mistake.

I'm carrying this right now. Marine French goat with navy alligator pockets. It's fully lined with goat split to .5mm. Fenice painted edges and I restitched it with Yellow Lin Cable.

The long wallet looks good but one thing I noticed is the middle section of pockets needs to be trimmed a little to make the edges even. The second pocket from the top is really sticking out. I would then burnish the edges as well.

I have that pattern also. I leave the tabs long when I cut them out. Then after I attach to the center section I can get them cut nice and flush so you can get a good edge and burnish.

Here's a couple of mine from a while back. I've not had the chance to do anything for a good while now and hoping to get back into it soon.

Hi, the edge creaser I used is the Wuta one shown in the first image. Its 1.5mm which i find works for most of my stuff. The snap is just a really thin skived piece of leather glued around a brass snap. Quite tricky that one.

@Petewon very nice work. I'd like to see your construction methods on those. Watch straps are beyond me at the moment haha.

Also, when setting that snap with the leather covering, does the setter damage the leather? Or do you put something over it to protect it?

Thanks :)

I've been through a few different processes with watch straps and finally settled on one I'm happy with..... for now :). I used to construct the back, padding and front of the strap before cutting the shape. I find it much easier to cut the shape for the bottom, then add the padding and top and use the shape of the pre cut bottom as a guide to cut around. Very tricky to explain.

And yes, for the snaps I use a thick bit of leather over the setter so it doesn't damage the leather covered snap.

You can do the same with the "fancy" or shotgun shell snaps too.

here's my version of the sketch wallet. i saw the sketch wallet on Instagram and decided to make myself one. It's a hassle to carry a full sized sketchbook everywhere so i made this one to for quick doodles or notes when I'm out and about.

Interesting detail work on the banjo and case.  Is it tooled and antiqued only, or did you use dye or paint to bring out the details?
