Sewing machine with removable flat bed

Recommended Posts

Here is my new sewing machine (1 month old) with the removable flat bed I made.

The bolts for the feet allow me to adjust the height very accurately, and the rubber feet help keep it from sliding around as it is a loose fit to the machine.

I’ve always wondered why I don’t see this around more often.  Very practical design. How does it perform?  What would you do to improve on v2.0?

Very nice I was going to get a cylinder machine but ended up getting a flat bed. Still going to get a cylinder someday. Turning into an expensive hobby.

 (Only problem with that is Brian lives on the other side of the world and shipping can be an issue).

Good job, mate. As long as it works that's all that matters.

Thanx guys.

It does work just fine. As for v.2.0 ... I have installed T-nuts for binder attachments (which do not show up very well in the pic), so there is nothing I can think of right now, that I would do differently.

Maybe I will round over all the external edges, that's about all.

Love it! I think I'm going to try something like this.

I've been looking for a flatbed solution for my Singer 17 class machine.

I looked around to see what other people were using, and/or possibly buy something already assembled. Unfortunately I was not able to find much (Obviously I was looking in all the wrong places), so that's why I made my own design.

Hi Daniel, Is the suggested pattern for your table going to be a similar size as your pic above? Is something that small going to be helpful or hindrance?
