Members baroness Posted March 29, 2018 Members Report Posted March 29, 2018 @bikermutt posted this pic in another thread. I don't want to derail that one. If it is the leather from the front that is turned over or is it a strip of leather used as a binding? I'm curious on people's techniques. If it is a strip of binding, do you glue then punch/prick, or punch separately and then stitch it up, etc.? Do you even glue? I have a project idea but thinking about how to bind the edges. I have some 2.5oz belly that I'm thinking would have enough stretch to work similar to bias tape in fabric sewing but need to contemplate more. thanks Quote
bikermutt07 Posted March 29, 2018 Report Posted March 29, 2018 That was a separate piece of leather. I made lines on both sides of the green leather just shy of where the binding piece would land. Then carefully applied contact cement in 6" intervals. Lay a section tap it down. Same for the reverse side. Then stitch. I made slices on the back side to help go around the corners. Someone mentioned that it was not necessary. On a turned edge that you mention, you leave your material proud of your line. Skive it. Glue it then roll it back on itself and stitch. Quote
