Removing Tandy waterstain and acrylic paint?

I have a project that I stained with eco flo black waterstain and painted parts of with acrylic paint. Does anyone have experience removing either of those? I was going to try denatured alcohol, maybe lacquer thinner if that doesn't work, but I appreciate any advice. The piece also has a resolene finish but I assume whatever I use to strip will get rid of that. I also know that in any case I will have to condition thoroughly after!
