Shorts Report post Posted March 19, 2009 Leatherworkers are fascinating creatures. I can't sleep so I'm roaming around online. No pics of my old room but I'm eager to get into a new place. You fellas with the dedicated outbuildings and shops, I'm totally jealous! Quick question for those in garage space, is it climate controlled? My concern with using some garage space is humidity/temperatures effecting the leather/finish if I were to leave items in the garage regularly. Any advice? Our garage is definitely an active working one in regards to vehicles, motorcycles and tools. For lack of a better way to describe it, I'd hate to 'dirty up the leather' with any garage contaminants. I'm suddenly having dreams of building my own building and outfitting it with all the stuff I could ever use (and a bunch of stuff I never would)... But that's ok. For now, I'll just stick with the kitchen bar, since it's been working pretty well for me... Full Workspace - 1/2" Thick UHMW Cutting/Pounding Surface, Granite Slab for Carving/Stamping Bits and pieces container... Buckles, Thread, Needles, etc... Custom Skiving Knife, Strap Cutter, Custom Micarta Mallet, Tools Holder (UHMW), Stamps and more Stamps... My current stamp collection (which is steadily growing... I love finding the old steel craftool stamps on eBay, instead of the plated Taiwan stuff) Dyes, FInishes, Miscellany, Sharkskin, Snakeskin, etc... Under the table storage for leather scraps and pieces... Plus, I've got a dining room table that holds my rolled leather and other odds and ends... I designed my homemade furniture to fold up, retract or be removable when not in use. Not much veg-tan leather is visible. I like the wood in the house above your workbench.... different to the old Australian tin roof houses here... It is an old loghouse that I bought 15 years ago, disassembled, moved and rebuilt on my backyard. A couple of months ago I stumbled on a big lot of Gomph tools at a price I couldn´t resist so now I have more handtools than I actually need. oldtimer Report post Posted February 3, 2012 (edited) Some more pics from my shop: The log cabin in snow, ( It was meant to be a guest house). 7" timber walls + 4" insulation, 12" insulation in the roof. Pine board floor, ceiling and walls, electric heating. A cosy winter den. The tooling bench, with a 4" headstone recessed into the table top. Under the headstone is a bench made of 4" lumber, glued and bolted together and with metal legs. The bench is recoil- and break free ! My Adler 205-374 with needle positioning device and a stand I made myself for this heavy piece of iron.
