Hildebrand Report post Posted September 27, 2018 When you guys use the Leather balm with atom wax do you put a final finish of Resolene or Mop and Glo over it or is it the final finish? Thanks, as always you guys are a great resource. Todd
garypl Report post Posted September 28, 2018 I use it after I apply Resolene - usually two coats buffed in between coats. Gary
YinTx Report post Posted September 28, 2018 I have used it both ways: before and after seal coat. I like the finish it gives, looks great, but no water resistance without something else. and adding the something else ruins it's look. So I don't get to use it much, seems kinda pointless, like I already put neatsfoot oil on it, I don't need another leather nourishment. I need a topcoat/seal! chiefjason Report post Posted September 30, 2018 I put it on last. Let dry. Buff out.
3248tm Report post Posted October 1, 2018 I need to brush up on putting a good finish on a holster. Any other info would be great.
neilyeag Report post Posted October 1, 2018 I usually apply the resolene on the inside of my knife sheaths and then let dry and then stitch. For the outside a few coats (or several) of neetsfoot oil followed by Aussie Leather balm, buff out and that's it. Seems to give a nice finish. The resolene on the inside, I have no idea, it is just something I saw somebody doing and I thought it made sense so I stuck with that routine.
