What is this type of holster called

Recommended Posts

Hi All

I saw this type of holster online and thought it looked old school, so I made a pattern and this is what I came up with, I think it turned out really nice. Just don't know what to call it when I try to sell it? Also in the process of making a belt for it. Thanks all in advance.

Regards Forester

Well  I think  its a "Forester Slim Jim (California) Pouch Texas Style Mexican Loop Gun Holster". - Texas Style for short.

And beautiful!!! I want to make one now.

Texicans were known for having used the 'jock-strap' loops.

This a "Forester British California Slim Jim Arizona type Mexiacan Loop with half skirt closed-toe gun holster"

Thanks for all the feedback, but I think some of the titles might be a bit long to put on Ebay or Etsy. Might go with "Old School Style Holster".

Whatever you call it, don't sell it cheap. Don't under-value your work

FredK Yes there is the more well known Texas jock strap but there is also the short flap that was also popular in Texas (east and west it seems) for a period of time.

Just a few examples below

Technically, a California-style Slim Jim with a Mexican Loop half skirt. Very similar to Cullen Bohannon's holster in Hell on Wheels (except his was plain and grotty looking ).

Very nice job indeed. Of course, you realise that you're supposed to give details too? Like colour used, finish etc?;)
