I am wanting to get some info.

I am making a leather bound book for a Christmas present and am not to sure on leather thickness. I am wanting to tool the cover as well as fold edges to the interior. My question is how thin can I go before their is not much left for tooling and not leave to much for the fold over as I don't have a skiver( I am fine skiving a bit with what I do have to get it to lay right)

Far from a book expert, but you might try using a good tooling leather weight that you are comfortable with. And then stitch it to a thin enough piece to do you turning.

Instructable's website has some nice tutorials.  They aren't necessarily  traditional, but get the job done.

I have made a couple of books by cheating and attaching the tooled leather onto some that is thinner and more flexible.
