Another Homemade Stitching Pony

Recommended Posts

Threw this together yesterday. No plans, just some pictures off good old Google. Looked at a bunch and tried to decide what might be useful features. Being a rookie, I wasn't too sure. No finish on it when I took the pics, but it's done now with leather over the pads. It works really well! Stitched together my first holster today. Need to decide where I want to put the needle magnets and some leather strips over the knobs to prevent hanging up on them. Any ideas on those things?

Nice! I like everything about it. Lots of good ideas put into action there.

That is great, love how it folds down, easy to tuck away when not in use :)

Hah, I have one of those you were inspired by coming Monday by post from eBay. It looks almost exactly the same. I can let you know if it is any good.

I think you'll like it. Not that you'd ever use any of those fancy adjustments...but it's nice to know they are there.

Thanks everyone. It's appreciated!!!! It does seem to work well. It locks up tight in any position. Getting ready to stitch a belt so it'll get through the paces for sure. I still need to figure out where to put my little magnets. I tried them on the top of the jaws, but it was too easy to get things tangled.

Again, the comments are appreciated!

Where can I find knobs like that? I'd like to try to make my own pony!

They are commonly used with woodworking clamps.....I got these on Amazon. They aren't the heaviest duty, but for the purpose they will outlast me I'm sure....here's a link....

Home centers and hardware stores generally have a small selection of them in the nuts and bolts area. 1/4-20 size should be fine for these.
