Hello all! Here is a leather tote bag I finished a while ago. The handles are an 8 strand round braid and the first thing I've braided. The leather is 8oz veg-tan with soft pigskin lining on the inside. The sheridan pattern is my own work. This is also my first time using a bar grounder in my carving.

Let me know what you think!

Critique welcome.

-Ryan

WOW!!  You never fail to impress. I see nothing I'd change, even the braid and bar grounding look good, especially for a first try

Wow! Really nice! Did you use a lifter under the flower petals and leaves?

Great Sheridan style design work, background work, and knife work.

Really nice job. Especially on the carving. Your skills have improved greatly in a relatively short period of time.

Very nice Ryan, the tote is incredible!  It is far beyond my capabilities.

For the sake of a critique there is one thing that draws my eye away from the beautiful carving.  It is the lacing, especially at the corners as they are not covered well.  Maybe you could go through the 3 holes around the corner twice using a flatter and wider lace.  Another option is to use a double loop lacing or Mexican round braid as I think it would help set off your braided handles.

Anyway, great work as always!!

Wow... that is beautiful work... Love it:)

Is it Natural or did you use and Dye or Antiquing?  How did you finish it?

I' m once again blown out of the water by your work!

Letting the corners peak out of the lacing makes the bag speak to the future owner: "Don't be shy, give it to me, I want to take in all your groceries!"

Very impressive work. Carving looks great and very detailed.

The only thing that cuts the eye a little is the fleecy edge of the lacing. But this is a question for the material, but not for the master.

Once again - your work is admirable!

Magnificent work, young man!!
I can't even imagine what you'll be able to do by the time you reach the "old fart" status of many of us ;)
