William N Porter Endurance(?) Saddle

I just picked up a saddle that I assume was a custom order for William Porter. I haven't seen any others. It has a thin, black leather covering that was stitched on. I'm doing my best to clean and condition this saddle, but that black leather is really odd. I'm 90% sure that it is leather. Also has nicely padded stirrups. Came with a matching breastcollar as well. I bought it because I felt bad for it sitting in a garage all dried up. I don't know anything about endurance riding.

I did wonder if it might be a gaited saddle, but I don't think so. Gullet looks like it's 6".

What do y'all think?
