Skizzer Report post Posted April 12, 2019 Howdy, New to the site, just a guy who does fairly repairs and occasionally basic fabrication. Been at it a long time, but consider myself a pretty rank novice. I've been using hand sewing awls containing thread and wanted to try using harness needles. Finally got a copy of Stohlman's Hand Sewing and he recommends "egg eye harness needles of size 4 or 5". Tried to go online and buy some, but the sizes don't seem to be the same, in fact they appear reversed: their Size 4 is 48mm length X 0.9mm dia. Stohlman's drawings look like his needles are at least 3 inches long. What am I missing here? Thanks.
heydox Report post Posted April 12, 2019 Hey Skizzer. Big welcome to you. This thread covers your issue really well. Short and skinny of it all- buy a pack of John James Saddlers Harness Needles in size #2 (002)
