When I was a boy scout, we did all kinds of different activities to scrounge up money for other projects or attend jamborees.some of the things we did

sold American flags door to door

collected aluminum cans/ anything aluminum

the funnest was making copper bowls.  one of the dads made a few wood templates, we hammered copper into the templates. then sold the bowls at art fairs.. made lots of money

had car washes

I was part of the fundraising team of my son's troop while he was in scouts.  We did a lot of things to raise money.  We did the regular selling of stuff but the most successful fundraisers were when the Scouts did something.  We did cleanup of a park after the 4th of July fireworks display and did Christmas wrapping for donations in front of a department store. 

I mainly work with the Scouts doing Leatherwork Merit Badge classes now.  But I have a few ideas for some fundraising at the Council level.  I hope to get them started next year.
