Quick and cheap DIY stitching pony

Recommended Posts

Quick and dirt cheap stitching pony we made as a diversion from working with leather only. It's made of a plank of pine wood from the local hardware store, three screws with nuts and a couple of wood screws. Took about an hour to build but it does its job well. A video of making it here . Pattern available here

Great job! I built mine out of recycled pine from an old shipping container. two square shank machine screws, two wing nuts two washers and two wood screws and some leather of course.

Looks great! I needed one that grips the table and pivots on two axis because I film what I make and a sit on pony wasn't helpful anymore.

Gotta love that dual pivot for best placement! Happy stitching!

nice

suggestion: glue some magnets on the jaws, at the lower level of the outside leather. most useful for attaching a needle to whilst sewing. I have several magnets on mine

Thank you FredK

It was a piece of oak I had. I will certainly inset some magnets in the sides.
