Cast Iron Skillet Handle Cover

If you use Cast Iron Skillets or know someone who does and you're locked inside make a few of these to keep from burning your /their hands.

Do NOT leave these on if you are going to put your skillet in the Oven.

Let me know if you like it, or know of a way to improve it.

Yes, they are brilliant, school of had knocks taught me not to sew them on. Take two and I did not sew the second one on, even better we have a couple of these pans.

You might put an inside radius on the top section and a tab on the bottom section with an outside radius to protect your index finger when you pick up that hot pan.

I really like this idea.  We tend to give old griswalds for gifts, and it would be a wonderful touch to add a personalized handle cover.  Thanks so much for sharing this.

Don Gonzales was giving away free patterns for tooling these.  I have one (not the best executed, but, I will just be using it in my own kitchen), and created a tutorial (Potholder) for the broad "second handle" on my grill pan.  They work a treat!
