Leather Stamps Needed for Scouts

Recommended Posts

We need the following 2D/3D leather stamps for Scouts.  I will need to break this into multiple posts due to the limitations of photo sizes.

If you have any of these to donate or sell at a reasonable price, please contact me.

Thanks,

Dale

All you need to do to post more photos is to take the time and effort to reduce the photos file size.  There are several options as to how to do it.  Read this post and the following posts to see some of them.

I have merged your posts into one thread!

Thank you for doing that.  I didn't think about making multiple posts in one thread.

I did reduce the photo size with an online tool for the 1st 2 photos.  The other photos started out as an excel file, converted to a pdf, then converted to a jpeg file, then reduced again.  I will read the post you recommended and try to do better.

Can you delete or archive all the other posts I have in the wanted and for sale sections?

Or is there a way for me to do that?

Thanks,

Dale

Locked and archived in "Old/Sold".  A moderator or admin has to do this for you. You can send a PM or report the post with a comment.  We try to catch for sale posts when the OP posts the items are sold.  But we miss some too!  Some day I should go through and sort by date and archive the "dead" items.

oooof, the scout stamps in the first post are going to be hard ones to get for the most part. I'm sure you're familiar by now that it's an uphill battle. I've been working on building a Woodbadge set for over 8 years, and the only eagles I've seen sold for over $300, and I haven't seen any eagles for sale unless for part of a set (and prices around $1000 for the set) in several years. For the rest, I've only seen beavers for less than $30 recently. I've only seen a few of the Eagle Scout stamps, and none less than $50, and only one of the Order of the Arrow arrowhead. Our council decided against getting the OA Indian head, so I haven't been watching for those.

Spring field Leather Company, Steck Store, and the Scout Shop have the universal emblems in the lower left corner of those pictures and some of the Cub Scout stamps. So at least you can fill the some of the camp needs with those. These are modern replicas, and aren't all that crisp in my opinion. I suggest to the camps using a press rather than a hefty handle and a mallet. You just can't get a very good  impression without a lot of work unless using a press with these, I've found.

I read your other thread, and yeah, haunting ebay and etsy is about all you can do it seems. And due to some issues with the local scouts and council, some stamps I started collecting for use in the camps are mine--I can't afford to loan them out when they are so careless and if the kids abuse the stamps--one counselor was letting some kids bang on concrete with them (no leather, just stamp applied on the concrete) and even give the stamps away to the kids!! Which means I've lost the use of the stamp, and the stamp is no longer available for anyone else in other troops or camps to use either! So they don't get the stamps unless I am there with them, and the stamps go home with me after class. . . And yeah, with ebay, you wind up with a pile of duplicates. And like you I HAAATE selling the extras. I will hover go poke around my extras sometime today or tomorrow and see if I can fill any of your camp or personal needs.

It looks like there is a seller on ebay right now with a "Cub Scout Set" with a Wolf and Tiger stamp for under $25 and also an actual Craftool Co. Universal stamp for $20 right now.

That would be great if you have any I need.  Let me know what they are so I can check if I still need them since I have acquired a couple from the above list.

At one time I thought I didn't need to have separate tools for the Scouts until someone basically said, "Are you CRAZY?".  So I started putting together the other two sets of stamps I use for Scouts.  As far as my personal set goes, I only need 3 or 4 stamps to complete my set.  That would be a total of 742 2D/3D stamps.  These are the numbered stamps from Craftool, Leather Factory and Midas.  Included in that set is the Craftool Celtic and Zodiac stamp sets since those stamps are numbered and the 72 mini stamps that Tandy started selling a couple years ago.  There is not a number on them but they have a number assigned to each one.

I know all too well how difficult it is going to be to get all the Scout stamps I want to get.  I've been looking for years. A couple years ago I caught an ebay listing, within 5 minutes of being listed, that had all 9 WB stamps, an extra axe & log, several of the Cub Scout stamps, two of the OA stamps and a couple dozen other stamps.  I paid around $300 for it and it was a steal.  I need a few more of those.  About a month ago I got a great deal on 120 Midas stamps.  I paid $315 shipped to my door.  Less that $3.00 per stamp.  75 of them I needed in the Scout sets.  The rest I could sell and probably get most of the money I spent on all of them.

Thanks for the links.  With the exception of the Cub Scout (type 2 background) and Tiger Cub stamps, I have enough of the others but am trying to get some extras so when they do get "lost" I can replace them right away.  So I'm waiting on really great deals on those.  The Wood Badge stamps will only be loaned out on a special basis.  I always bring my set in case someone would like to use one of them.  But, they have to bring the leather to my table, stamp it in front of me and hand it back.  They never leave my sight.  I don't even blink until I get it back.

Hope to hear from you soon,

Dale
