First completed and colored portrait

Hey everyone, I've posted the carving in the figure carving area. This is the completed colored portrait. It is of my grandparents and will be sent to my dad for Christmas. Anywho, im always open to critique and I hope you enjoy it.

Never tried but i think portraits are the most difficult to make.   You pulled it off, though. 

This is one of my goals this year, that is, to do some portrait kind of artwork.

Annie libertini has a great portrait carving series at elktracks studio. Its a little pricy for all 5 but, it is worth it in my opinion. Just a thought for you.

Funny you should mention this.  My oldest daughter bought a one hour virtual session with Ms. Libertini as Christmas gift.  An hour isn't very long and it will go by fast so I was thinking of what I should do with the time.  I knew she did lots of painting (one of my many weak points) but maybe I'll ask for some basic tips about portrait work, too!   ~Thanks!
