Hand Tooled Box

Recommended Posts

A Box I made to hold my Grandpa's toy motorized train from when he was a kid. Makes a great family keepsake will be enjoyed for years to come. Had a blast making this so I thought I'd share. Thanks

I really like how you got the colors on the leather to compliment the colors of the wood, or vice versa.  Also, the train scene is phenomenally colored!  The whole piece has a great nostalgic aura.  Thanks for sharing!

That's beautiful.  What a wonderful way to store a family heirloom.

Thank you everyone glad you like it. Here is a picture of the inside of the box had trouble attaching it to the original post so hopefully it will go through this time.

The train is enclosed in glass and there is a battery operated light that can be accessed from the back. My sister did the scenery on the inside of the box with fabric. So it is truly a family treasure.

Thanks for looking

Most Impressive.  You really nailed it and whomever gets it is going to cherish it for the rest of their life and pass it on.  You created a masterpiece that the entire family will be able to enjoy.

Wow, I thought it was amazing work when I saw it as "just" a storage box  - and then you sow us that it's actually a display case! Brilliant!

Wow, what  a cool project.  The art work on the train is so well done it looks like its popping out of the leather.   Excellent tooling.
