Hello everyone!

We are a company that sells fish leather, specializing and taking special pride in producing sturgeon leather. The problem that we face is that little to no one has ever heard of the availability of such a material and the possibility to apply it to their works.
So our main question is whether you have heard about working with sturgeon and would be eager to try it, as it has certain specific features to it.

And if you have any questions to us, feel free to ask!

I have heard of fish leather but not sturgeon. I am curious about it though. Do you have a website with a link?

A few pictures showing the texture might be good to see if you would care to post some.

Hey, I don’t know if you know this, but “shadi” could be interpreted as the slang “shady”, so shadileather comes across as “shady leather”... in other words it’s like saying that the leather is questionable.   Just something to consider regarding the name.

I looked at your website, could you talk more about the characteristics of sturgeon leather.  How does it compare to and differ from salmon leather?  What applications can this be used for?  Doe it dye a uniform/solid color?

Sorry but your marketing is crap, you had the opportunity to tell us the benefits of your fish leather the story behind your company; and where we could buy it, what a golden opportunity missed. it's no use making a product if you don't know how to sell it or make people aware of its benefits

Sell us the product and why we should buy from you

Anubis, thank you for your concern. The thing is, our brand name is pronounced quite differently and of course has its own story to it.

It derived from the last name of our founder and a creator of unique fish leather processing technology, Akhmed Shadiev. The company was found in Russia and so it is pronounced as “sh-ah-dee” with stress on the first syllable.

We’ll dwell on the sturgeon characteristics more in our further replies below. Thank you.

This platform is new to us. We really are happy to find a community of involved craftsmen and wouldn’t want to be banned or looked down to for only self-promoting and posting nothing more. This post was meant to kindly request whether there is any interest in our exotic leather. Now that we see how excited you are, we’ll be more than glad to tell you everything you’d want to ask us!

Are there more pictures that you can post that show applications/uses of this leather?  It would be helpful when trying to envision possible uses for this.

Speaking of sturgeon features,

the surface of a sturgeon skin has a smooth natural face side covered with lots of boney scutes of different shapes and sizes.
We strive for each leather piece to reflect its natural beauty. The technique preserves every peculiar ornament of the scutes. Yet at the same time the final result is soft, durable and pleasant to the touch.

Durability and strength:

The sturgeon skin structure includes long fibers that intertwine forming a multilayer net. That makes the skin of the sturgeon several times stronger than bull skin. It is waterproof, so it dries quickly without losing its initial features.

Application:

Sturgeon skin is a fairly new and unique material for leather industry. The sturgeon processing technology developed by us allows to both preserve all the natural beauty of every skin and to give it the desirable features. It is a great fit for wallets, card holders, watch straps, interior design, etc. Available in various sizes and tempers, from very soft to stiff, it gives more opportunities for its use in leather craft, design, and more.

We'd like to respect the craftsmen and their copyrights, so here's links to

Just FYI...your website is carrying a trojan virus. I can't view it because my antivirus keeps detecting the trojan and blocking the connection.

There has to be some unfortunate mistake. Our IT team checked on the possibility of our site containing any viruses and it’s all clear. You can try to visit the site again or view us on different platforms. We have Facebook shop here: https://www.facebook.com/shadileather/shop/?ref_code=product_tag_on_photo_fullscreen_768791803819332%235d7fb437-1643-4bec-9f77-75245ebad610&ref_surface=mini_shop_product_details

And we are also online on Instagram, where you can see catalog of the goods available: https://www.instagram.com/shadi_leather/

Hope that helps! We’ll be glad to talk with you about order details.

I recently saw a local ad for cowboy boots using this sort of fish leather.  It was quite attractive looking.

Makes me wonder...do you have to keep fish leather from getting wet?  :)

If you mean these, this is also our production!

Indeed I came back to it a few days later and there is no issue. I'm trying to figure out how to delete my post now...

Otherwise I look forward to doing some business with you in the near future :)

The skinning of the fish is probably beyond your control.  It would be nice to see entire skins with the sturgeon's top row of scutes intact.

A different species but close enough for an example.

How much would some of this leather cost shipping included to Texas in USD?

Shipping to Texas will be $12
The leather itself goes in different sizes, so if you want a full-length skin, it'll be around $60-$80.  We offer cuts and samples as well, you can check it out here: https://shadileather.com/

The thing is that we receive our raw skins already split into two parts. We do save the pattern from the sides of the fish, and it turns out quite unusual, dragon-like even.

I’ve seen it advertised and was unsure if it were legal in the U.S. I assumed since I’d never seen it in all the years working with exotics that it was. I’m always ready for something new. I recently found a supplier for snapping turtle and have made some really nice stuff with it. Count me in on the fish. It’s some beautiful leather. Bet it’ll be a money maker for me too.
