Bought out an old shoe shop...

Recommended Posts

I ended up purchasing all the equipment in a previously abandoned shoe shop. Apparently the owners died years ago, taxes went unpaid... the building was sold to a new owner who wanted everything gone. At least, that is what I'm being told.

For the total price of $1700, I ended up getting..

3 - Landis Model K - No.12 stitchers
1 - Sutton McCay sticher of some sort.
5 - Various autosoler models...
1 - Antique singer patcher
1 - Champion sander/polisher machine
2 - Landis 5 in 1 (1 may be a champion)

Various other tools. Tons of stuff. Sole presses,

So I definitely have questions about everything. First of all, we're doing really well for ourselves in our current niche market. I've had a big drive to get into footwear at some point, and figured this could be a decent deal. I

Q1: Do I need more than 1 Landis Model K?
Q2: How about autosolers? A few of them look different, but theres 5.

Here are the photos

Looks like a good start. It probably wouldn't hurt to keep all 3 of those K's you never know what can break. What is the # on the Auto-soler with the built-in shelf?

WOW

Congratulations. I think that sound like the deal of the year!

I don't know anything specific about the machines, but I would keep them all until at least I am sure of that I won't need this or that machine.
It is frustrating to discover that half the projects/customers needed something done with that one machine that you didn't think you needed anyway.

I did get a manual with it...

I believe it’s a comet-10 special.

They made a 12" model for boots,a 10" is close & might work in a pinch. You probably could sell the others since this one will do what they can + more.

I can almost smell the leather and oil!

I took guitar lessons for a number of years. The man who owned the building  was a cobbler, and his shop shared the basement with the teaching staff of the music shop.

OMG!!!!:jawdropper: Here in Oz, that would be worth many $1000's . Wow, what a bargain .

The first thing I'd be doing is to  have a play with the new ' toys'  .

Well done :specool:
