Mink oil before applying finisher?

This particular leather is 3-4 oz and seems brittle. 
i am thinking to apply a  mink oil application, finish sewing, then apply finisher coat.  Please advise

I would use Neats foot oil, but  guess any oil will do. After the dog ate half a jar of mink oil and shat all over the house, I won't have it in the house anymore. And I do mean  EVERYWHERE!!!!

Mink oil is primary a waterproofer. Use a leather conditioner such as Bick 4, Lexol  Conditioner , Lexol NF or All purpose cleaner and conditioner.

use nf sparingly a little goes a long way then if its for outdoor use you can use the mink oil or any of the waterproofing concoctions,  if not then any of the popular finishes. I use the fiebings golden mink oil on most of my outdoor stuff.

I heard tell them Golden Mink are gettin' kinda scirce. :whistle:
