I bought some veg tan split leather that is somewhat finished on one side and nothing done on the other side. The finished side looks like a fake grain and some chemical was stamped on it. I bought it from Dangerous threads http://www.dangerousthreads.com/leather-side-piece-veg-tan-split-medium-weight-10-square-feet-2-5-x-4/ I just want to make a desk pad. I assume that I can dye it but does anyone know if the finished side can be finished a little better to make it smoother and better sealed against moisture? Thanks Dave
