Recommended Posts

Does anyone know what Jim's splitter and/or beveler costs? Would someone repost his contact information?

Thanks,

Marlon

I just happened to see that paper laying around in the shop a few days ago. It's dated 4/07 so hopefully the prices are still fairly current. The small beveler was $70 and the large one is $90. I think the small one is mostly for lace, and the larger one also does saddle strings and stuff like that.

He also sells kangaroo lace in a lot of different colors including foils and Robert Black's knotting and braiding DVD's.

how did I know you would have the answer? Does the tool split and bevel as well, or are they separate tools? I would use it primarily for lace. But would it be benificial to get the large one for any other reason?

Marlon,

At the time I bought the large one, it was the only string beveler that would do 1/2" saddle strings. Now there are a few other bevelers that will. The large one will go from about 1" down to lace. It only bevels, doesn't split. Jim's new improved atomic powered model features two slots for the choice of angles. Mine does one, but works for me. I think Clay B got him to make some left handed models also.

The new model he had made has slots to put the blade in for left or right hand use. Bruce suggested I try Jim's lace beveler out and when Jim watched me struggling to use the right handed model, he called whoever makes these things right on the spot and asked if they could be made for left handed use. I was pretty impressed that he would do that. Most times us lefties just have to get used to doing things backwards. He's a good guy to do business with.
