Members lemisanthrope Posted January 18, 2013 Members Report Posted January 18, 2013 I don't know correct terminology for the bits, which is actually my problem, so please be patient and have understanding. I have a really nice thick! gun belt. It is set up with screwed in rivets so that changing the buckle is quite laborious. I would like to put in snaps like I have on other belts so that I can easily switch belt buckles. What do I need in order to be able to do this? Much thanks, Andy Quote
dirtclod Posted January 18, 2013 Report Posted January 18, 2013 You need this http://springfieldleather.com/29329/Setter%2CSnap-All%2C6-Pc.Set/ and this http://springfieldleather.com/19046/Moc%2CDblBtmCowhideDrvng%2CSz-8-Ch/ and you will be set to go. Members lemisanthrope Posted January 18, 2013 Author Members Report Posted January 18, 2013 Thanks! I hope the 5/16" post is long enough, as the doubled back belt is probably close to 1/2" in width. But I don't see any snaps with longer posts available, so I guess I'll try those. Happy tooling, Andy Quote

Happy tooling, Andy The tool farthest to the right in that springfield post is a rivet setter, works great for pounding down the leather around your snap posts. That said, the snap posts are only just over 1/4" long, so you're likely going to have to skive your leather (shave the flesh side) at the end in order for them to work for a 1/2" thick belt. Not sure if this is going to open up a whole new can of worms for you or not though. Quote hellhoundkustoms.wordpress.com www.facebook.com/hellhoundkustoms www.etsy.com/shop/HellhoundKustoms
