Sax Sheath 600 P.c.

Recommended Posts

Hi Folks,

this is one of my latest projects, a Sax Sheath for an Alamanni about the year 600 p.C. The patterns for the carvings are from the Sutton Hoo Ship burial and the one on the mouth of the sheath was createt by me for the warrior. So it´s his figure.

Nice work! Are those bone rings or horn rings?

I really like the animal you created. I'm wondering what type of applicator you used for the coloring of the animals. I live the look very much.

@Hivemind: The Rings are cut from Elk Antlers and polished. The customer is a taxidermist who works the whole day with this stuff.

@alb: The Applicator was a damped sponge and the colour is antique finish (mahagonay).
