Edge On Soft Leather Goods

Recommended Posts

i know there are many replies on burnishing edges for natural leather and thicker leather. but what about soft leather goods like the commercial types of wallets. even high end designers seem to use some kind of plasticy/gummy/rubbery coating on the edges of soft leather wallets? how do you acheive that affect. or if that is not possible for diy, what options for finishing edges on soft leather are available?

I usually use a dye on the edges applied with some cotton, a sealer and then fiebings glue.

I think fiebings has the rubbery product that you are after...but i wouldn't know how to mould it. I was also wondering about this product as well.

in any case always give the edges a good rub with a slicker to give it a beveled edge.

I always ask about edges whenever I have visit my local leather shop and their response is always 'develop your own style'.

and their response is always 'develop your own style'. translation: - "we haven't a clue!"

and unfortunately neither do I. I need to know this technique also!
