  1. Hi yall, New to this site and to leather working as well. Lots of information and lots of knowledgeable people. Been working on a few projects and have been experimenting for about a year now. I would like to make a leather nameplate for my wife for Christmas. The nameplate would go on the outside of her horses stall and have the horses name on it. It would not be in direct weather but with any sort of driving rain or snow it may get wet on occasion. Throughout the year there are also times that it would get direct sun as well. My question: Is there a way to make the weather hold up to the elements? I know that over time it will eventually get weathered but wondering if there are ways to help keep it looking good for a longer amount of time. Should I mount the leather on wood when I'm done? Please be detailed in your advice as I am new to a lot of this. Thanks for your time and help
