Hello everyone,

I lived in the Mojave desert for about 24 years and have recently moved to Ventura county in California. I have been working with leather on and off for about 20 years. It started with a purchase of a cheap motorcycle jacket. I never would have bought it at full price. Hah, I said to myself . . . it had fringes on the arms an across the back!!! I grew to like all that business flying around as I rode. The belt, however, was useless. This is where my leather story starts. Long story short, after tooling up with about $300 in Tandy tools and materials, building a stitching pony and putting in many hours of practice and research I created a back supporting belt with a tooled eagle on it. I still have this belt after 20 years and it is still beautiful. Since then I have made several variations of motorcycle tool bags (I like to call them burrito bags), picture frames and boxes. I really enjoyed the close up hands on tooling, painting and hand stitching.

I am beginning another level of leather craft and LeatherWorker.net has become an integral part. I want to make machine sewn items such as wallets and cases. I have been looking for a sewing machine and my searches always result in links to LeatherWorker.net. This group is a major part of the world leather community. This is awesome and I have learned a lot about walking foot machines from the members here. I have enough info now to actually go into a store and look around at some machines.

I am excited about purchasing a machine and laying down some stiches.
