Harness Sewing Machine

I am trying to get started in leather works. I want to do everything from leather bible covers to leather purses to saddles. I am trying to find a sewing machine suitable for what I need. It is my understanding that I am going to need two sewing machines. A lightweight machine and a heavy duty machine. I found a used Adler 120 - 8A machine for $2,250.00 and I found a Singer 20U for $300.00. Would either of these machines be something I would need and, if so, are the prices good? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

you can buy a new artisan torro or a cobra for about the same as the used Adler . I bought the artisan years ago and it still works great the support was great and I needed it as I had never had a machine before and learned on it. I have bought a couple of used lighter machines since then and have had a lot of problems keeping them running ...... My advice is call both artisan and cobra and tell them what your trying to do. BOTH companies are great and can explain quite well how to do what you need . I imagine the other companies out there are good as well or they wouldnt still be in business . My personel experience was with these guys and they are GREAT Actually my Torro will sew down to pretty light weight like 2 pieces of 2 oz leather with very LITTLE adjustment and sew suede, harness or skirting with no problemand we regularrly repair horse sheets which are just nylon cloth but it will slip on this. The point being you might even get by with 1 machine
