Having Issues Dyeing My Leather Saddle?

So I stripped and dyed my tan western leather saddle black with fiebings dye and it looked really nice, and all the parts were covered. There were a few places that just didn't want to dye, but they eventually did. I let it dry for 24 hours. Then I started to apply the acrylic resolene (also fiebings) and it took some of the black dye off, exposing the tan color underneath. I think the spots that changed back to tan were the places that were hard to dye. Does anyone know what I did wrong? Did I not strip it well enough or apply enough dye (FYI I applied 3 coats)? And how can I fix this problem and make it look nice and not ruin the saddle? Thanks!
