What Machine Should I Purchase

Smokey Allen

I've been researching machines, trying to decide. I've looked at Cobra, Techsew, and Cowboy. I make large panniers and packsaddle riggings. I also make chaps, saddle bags, etc. These machines, i think are all made at the same factory. Is there really one above the other, if so why. Or is there another machine i should look at?

Thank you for your help in advance.

I purchased a ls-1 from sailrite. Love it. They have an Liz-1 that has zig-zag stitching . They also have more professional machine. I sew up to 3/8" thickness no problem. If I could afford it I would get a machine with a servo motor. You can control the speed much better. I modified my foot control with an adjustable stop, that helps me.

Thank you Harry for your response, I have since purchased a Cobra 4. It is great machine, however it is to big for some of my projects. i'm plaining on purchasing another smaller machine, not sure witch one. It will be for Bimini tops. A walking foot is a must.

I have the Cobra Class 4 for my leather work. My wife uses a Juki DU 1181 industrial walking foot which would be ideal for heavy fabric and vinyl- the presser feet are serated and does mark leather. We purchased it on eBay for $999 with the servo motor option. It was still pretty fast so I installed a speed reducer pulley. Works great on most but not for leather.
