My very first embossed project

This was my very first embossed project done in a class with Jan Schoonover. It changed my path in leather working. I've since taken several more classes with Jan. He's a great teacher, and a good friend. Hoping one day to learn to do his grizzly bear.

Clay,

With the great results you got I can see why that class changed your direction in leather working. I would love to learn how Jan does that Grizzly as well. Do you know if he still teaches classes? The Pitt Pounders would enjoy having him here for a class or two.

Thanks!

Chris

Hi Chris,

Yes, I think Jan is still teaching classes. I just got a Christmas letter from him and Alice and it said that he had been invited to teach a class in Australia next year. I'm not sure if they are going. It also said he had hurt his hand while they were moving into their new house which made it more difficult for him to do his leather work, but it sounds like he is still doing it. He's been having more and more health difficulties the last couple years. I'm still hoping to learn some more from him so I hope he keeps at it for quite some time! If you need some contact info for him, let me know and I'll get it to you. He doesn't use a computer.
