Sewing machine used to make golf bag

This is the sewing machine I used to sew the panels of the golf bag together. It is an able 290, cost about $300 AU.

It is far from ideal for making golf bags since it is all hand cranked and takes ages to sew. Because one hand is cranking and he other holding the work.

That said it did not miss a stitch and sewed comfortably through 2 layers of chrome tanned leather, 2 layers of foam and 6 layers of lining (includes bias binding). The thickest it sewed was what is mentioned above plus another 4 layers of chrome tanned leather. Which was at the umbrella holder near the base.

The magnifying glass was to help keep the stitching as straight as possible whilst juggling the panels through the machine.

There were parts of the build that I needed to hand sew either with waxed cotton thread and two needles or a speedy stitcher.
